New Endings
For the first time since we broke up, I really missed M today. Maybe it’s because this is the longest stretch of consecutive days I’ve had off of work since our last trip to Boston, or maybe it’s just that lonely feeling you get toward the end of Christmas break. Either way, I want it to pass.
As I was putting away my new Calloway golf bag, I thought how a dreary day like today...

Me: Ugh. I'm a sinner.
JG: One sinner talking to another...much worse sinner!
Me: It worked out for you. I have a 20 something leaving raps songs on my voicemail.
JG: It could be worse. You could have no book material at all, I guess.
It has been a year since we started talking, and...

And here I am, ALIVE without you. Here I am, strong & standing on my feet again. Here I am, Not missing you, but missing the person I thought you were. Here I am, Standing here on my own, without needing your shoulder to lean on.
You are home for me.

The Mexican or the Mattress
I was reading an article in Reader’s Digest about the 10 things you should never buy at a garage sale, of course this reminds me of my dad. The man absolutely loves garage sales as does my sister. I, on the hand, absolutely hate them. When I was a kid I would duck down in my dad’s old beat up car praying I didn’t see anyone from school while Dad and TLDG rummaged through other...

JL: I think the hour between five and six is the saddest hour of the day.
Me: I agree. It's the time I should be cooking dinner in my Santa apron for my husband, when in reality I'm not married and I'm still at work.
JL: I'm at home making up country line dances before I leave for spray tan. You win.
Me: And I live in a state that never requires artifical tanning. Double win.

Letters from Grandma
Terri,
I guess I knew you had changed jobs but I did not know you were living with your Mother and Matt. I am so happy that your church has a young adult group. That is the age that our parishes don’t seem to reach very well. I certainly will add your intention to my prayer list. I do include all of my grandchildren and their spouses in my daily rosary and Mass. There is a very good...

Thinking back to my High School days always puts things in perspective for me. I remember standing at the pay phone my junior year paging my boyfriend over and over to tell him to get to school. It was the start of third period and Principal Puolus just told me that if my ”always cutting class” boyfriend did not get to school by 4th period, he would be suspended over the weekend and...

Things I learned from my dad...
Happy Father’s Day! My dad spent a week with me and my sister in Tampa over Father’s Day weekend. He met his two-week-old grandson for the first time and enjoyed time with his favorite girls. We did some of my dad’s favorite things like drink beer, go to the racetrack, walk the beach, talk real estate, go to the racetrack, shop, enjoy cocktails, go to the racetrack, watch sports,...

JVK: We didn’t need it. We had your house.

Styles of Distorted Thinking
Filtering: You take the negative details and magnify them while filtering out all positive aspects of a situation.
Polarized Thinking: Things are black or white, good or bad. You have to be perfect or you’re a failure. There is no middle ground.
Overgeneralization: You come to a general conclusion based on a single incident or piece of evidence. If...

TLDG is turning 30!
My little sister (by 14 months) is turning 30 on Friday! Her hubby has a perfect night planned for her friends and cousins at the Hard Rock Cafe. I hate gambling, but I love to people watch so I can’t want to get all fancied up and watch people drop quarter after quarter into a slot machine. It might sound boring, but with a drink in hand and people hollaring out lucky numbers and chants, it...

It's all about me
My birthday was here and now I am 31. M bought me a ballon that said, “it’s all about me” with some spring flowers. Funny, because most times I am with him I don’t feel like it’s all about me. He is not my most favorite person these days. I could sit here and list a bunch of reasons why, but that would just depress me. If people waited to get married until they met...

Hail Mary
I sent a text this morning to let my closest family members know I had an interview at another state agency for a higher communications position. I was asking for prayers. My dad’s response is below…
“Hail Mary Full of Grace give my child this board of ed place.”
I love that little man. He makes me laugh.
Behind Closed Doors
Today I am working with my door shut, something I rarely do because it just seems so rude to my co-workers. For the countless time this year our office manager brought her sick kid to work. How is this acceptable? If the kid is too sick to attend school then the kid is too sick to come to a public office building.
Right this second the kid is writing on our events board using a red marker to...
